Everstride: Compression socks that put comfort, confidence and style on an equal footing
Sometimes the best business ideas come from experiencing a problem first-hand. For Kate, founder of Everstride, that problem was finding compression socks that actually fitted.
Living with diabetes, Kate experienced severe leg pain and swelling that made even the simplest everyday tasks difficult. She knew that compression socks could help, but finding a pair that accommodated her larger calves was another matter entirely. The options available either slipped down, wore out quickly or felt so tight that they were uncomfortable to wear.
Rather than accept that this was simply how compression socks had to be, Kate decided to do something about it.
Recognising that thousands of other women were facing the same frustrations, she developed the first Everstride sock: a compression sock designed with women's bodies, comfort and real-life needs in mind.
Why compression socks matter
Compression socks are about much more than keeping your feet warm. They are designed to apply gentle, graduated pressure to the legs, helping support healthy blood circulation.
Unlike ordinary socks, compression socks apply the greatest pressure around the ankle, with the pressure gradually decreasing towards the calf. This helps encourage blood to flow back towards the heart, rather than pooling in the lower legs.
For people who experience swollen ankles, fluid build-up, heavy or tired legs, or discomfort after spending long periods sitting or standing, compression can provide valuable support.
They can be particularly useful during travel, when sitting still for extended periods can contribute to swelling and discomfort, and for people whose everyday routines involve spending hours on their feet.
Designed for comfort and choice
Everstride's socks offer graduated compression of 15–20 mmHg, designed to support circulation and provide comfortable daytime wear. The brand recommends wearing them for around 8–12 hours and removing them before bed unless advised otherwise by a healthcare professional. People with diabetes or circulation problems should seek medical advice before using compression socks.
The Original Wide Compression Socks are designed for larger calves, offering everyday support in classic colours including black, white, navy and beige whilst their Bamboo Wide Compression Socks combine a soft, breathable, moisture-wicking fabric (60% bamboo) with four-way stretch for easier dressing and a comfortable fit. Available in classic shades and pastels, they also come in toeless and ankle-length styles, offering more choice for different preferences.
Everstride's stretchy fabrics, wider sizing and proportionately larger footbeds help make putting socks on easier, particularly for people with limited mobility or reduced dexterity. There's also a 60-day fit guarantee, allowing customers to try and wash their socks and request a replacement size if the fit isn't right.
Making compression a little less clinical
At Never Grey, we believe that practical products should never mean sacrificing comfort, choice or individuality.
Everstride is a great example of a brand taking something traditionally associated with medical supplies and rethinking it for everyday life. Kate recognised a problem that wasn't being adequately addressed and created a range that puts the needs of women with different body shapes and requirements at the centre of its design.
Because whether you're travelling, working, spending time on your feet or simply looking for a little extra support throughout the day, finding something that fits properly and feels good to wear matters.
Compression doesn't have to be uncomfortable, and it certainly doesn't have to be boring.
